Reconstitution calculator and units

Updated 15 Oct 2026

The calculator is here to help you read research. It only converts units: your own numbers, or doses reported in the cited studies.

Math tool, not medical advice. The calculator converts units. It does not tell you how much of any substance is advisable or safe to use.

Picking one fills the vial size and an example water amount. You can change both.
milligrams (mg), printed on the vial label
millilitres (ml) of bacteriostatic water
Pick the unit: mg or mcg. 1 mg = 1000 mcg. mcg and µg mean the same: microgram.

Dosing calendar

Your browser makes a calendar file (.ics) that you can import into Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. Each entry carries the calculator result in syringe units and a reminder. The file is made in your browser, nothing is sent.

The schedule is your own choice, not a recommendation.

whole number, 1 - 365

How the math works

  1. Concentration = vial mg ÷ water ml. For example 5 mg ÷ 2 ml = 2.5 mg/ml = 2500 mcg/ml.
  2. Volume = desired mcg ÷ concentration (mcg/ml). For example 250 mcg ÷ 2500 mcg/ml = 0.1 ml.
  3. On a U-100 syringe 1 ml = 100 units, so 0.1 ml = 10 units.
  4. Doses left = vial mcg ÷ desired mcg, rounded down.

Calculator FAQ

Does the calculator tell me how much to use?

No. It only converts units: vial milligrams and added water millilitres into a concentration, and the amount you enter into millilitres and syringe units. It does not tell you how much of any substance is advisable or safe to use.

Where can I find the doses used in studies?

All dose pages and per-substance calculators are collected on the Dosing page. Dose pages show only doses used in studies or official dosing, with sources, never recommendations.

Is anything I type sent anywhere?

No. The calculation and the calendar file are made in your browser, and the numbers you enter are not sent anywhere.

What does U-100 mean?

On a U-100 insulin syringe, 1 ml is 100 units. The calculator shows the volume both in millilitres and in units on that scale.

In the glossary: bacteriostatic water. Research on substances: Peptides A-Z.
