Ipamorelin: dosage in studies

Ipamorelin doses have been published from two human studies. A study in healthy men compared five dose levels, and growth hormone was released at every level [1]B.
In a phase 2 trial ipamorelin was given in hospital after bowel surgery, with the aim of speeding the recovery of bowel function [2]A.

Doses in the first study are given in nanomoles per kilogram of body weight and in the second in milligrams per kilogram [1]B[2]A. The half-life of ipamorelin was about two hours [1]B.
In both published studies the substance was given as an infusion into a vein under supervision, once in healthy men and for at most seven days in surgical patients [1]B[2]A.
What points the other way or is uncertain
In the phase 2 trial ipamorelin did not differ from placebo in the key or secondary efficacy analyses. The first solid meal was tolerated at a median of 25.3 hours in the ipamorelin group and 32.6 hours in the placebo group (p = 0.15) [2]A.
A second randomised phase 2 dose-finding trial (320 patients after bowel surgery; 0.03 or 0.06 mg/kg twice a day or 0.06 mg/kg three times a day into a vein) was completed in May 2014 according to the registry, but no results are posted, and we know of no publication of the trial [3]E, not peer-reviewed.

Doses in the Gobburu and Beck studies are from the abstracts. In the Gobburu study it was given as an intravenous infusion.
