NAD+: dosage in studies
Not a recommendation, not treatment guidance. This page shows only what published human studies used, with sources. This site does not say how much anyone should use of any substance. Fimea warns against using injectable peptides bought online: Fimea warning.
In the three studies in the table, NAD+ was given into a vein: a randomised trial in heart failure patients, a pilot study in healthy men and retrospective data from clients of a commercial infusion service [1, 2]A [3]B.
NR and NMN are precursors of NAD+ that have been studied by mouth. They are different substances, so their amounts are not in this table [4]B.
Doses used in studies
| Study | Participants | Dose | Frequency | Duration | Source and level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yu 2026 | 180 people with heart failure (ischaemic cardiomyopathy), 90 of whom received NAD+ | 10 mg of NAD+ into a vein as an infusion | Once a day | 7 days | [1]A |
| Grant 2019 | 11 healthy men aged 30-55, 8 of whom received NAD+ | 750 mg of NAD+ into a vein as a six-hour infusion | Once | One infusion | [2]A |
| Reyna 2026 | 6 clients of a commercial infusion service (NAD+ group) | 500 mg of NAD+ into a vein | Once a day | 4 consecutive days, 30 days of follow-up | [3]B |
Evidence levels: A = randomised human trial or meta-analysis · B = observational human study or case series · C = animal study · D = cell or laboratory study · E = not peer-reviewed
Notes
Amounts differed widely: 10 mg a day in the heart trial, 750 mg as a single infusion in the pilot study and 500 mg a day in the infusion data [1, 2]A [3]B.
In the heart trial NAD+ was given in hospital on top of standard drug treatment [1]A. The authors of the infusion data were employed by the company that gave the infusions, and only six clients received NAD+ [3]B.
What points the other way or is uncertain
In the retrospective data, everyone who received NAD+ reported moderate to severe symptoms during the infusion, such as abdominal cramps, nausea, a faster heart rate and chest pressure. Because of the symptoms, NAD+ infusions took longer, 97 minutes on average (37 minutes in the NR group). HDL cholesterol also fell in the NAD+ group [3]B.
In the pilot study, blood NAD+ did not rise during the first two hours, because infused NAD+ was rapidly removed from the blood [2]A.
In the heart trial the primary outcome, heart pumping function at one month, improved, but cardiac events and hospital stays over six months did not differ significantly from placebo [1]A.
